Fiscal Sustainability

The goal is straightforward:

Leave future councils with options instead of crises, and keep Dublin’s finances strong enough to support the quality of life residents expect.

Dublin currently enjoys healthy reserves and recent operating surpluses. At the same time, the city’s own 10-year forecast shows a potential General Fund operating deficit beginning around Fiscal Year 2030–31. Rising contracted service costs, flattening sales-tax trends, and the need to maintain infrastructure as we approach build-out all point to the same reality: today’s strong position is not automatic tomorrow.

Steve seeks to:

  • Treat the 10-year forecast as an active planning tool. Dublin cannot wait until a deficit occurs to address it.

  • Require clear, multi-year cost-of-service analysis for major contracts and enterprise funds so residents can see exactly what services cost.
